Custer Resident Claimed by Death

Mrs. Laura Grovenburgh, 74, died Thursday evening at the home fo her granddaughter, Mrs. Norbert Ray of South Custer, following a lingering illness. She came to Mason county as a young child from Milwaukee, where she was born, residing here throughout the remainder of her life. She was married Oct. 5, 1890, to Urniss Grovenburgh and for many years they resided on a farm in North Custer, near Mills school. In 1940 Mr. and Mrs. Grovenburgh celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary and the following year Mr. Grovendurgh died. In 1930 Mrs. Grovenburgh became a member of Latter Day Saints church. she leave a daughter, Mrs. Bessie Leavitt of North Custer; a sister, Mrs. Morris Paxton; three granddaughters, Mrs. Leonard Linleman of Stronach, Mrs. Hilles Berry of Omar and Mrs. Ray, a grandson, Floyd Grovenburgh (Sic? should be Leavitt) of Scottville, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday from Stephens funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Mr. Allen Schrurer of Gaylord. Burial will be in Sugar Grove cemetery. The body, now at Stephens funeral home will repose there until the hour of tghe services.
