Catherine Elnora (Sanders) Shue - Ludington, Mason Co, Michigan
MRS. C. E. SHUE IS TAKEN BY DEATH
Mrs. Catherine Elnora Shue of 505 North Rowe street, resident of Ludington during the past 40 years, passed away on Monday afternoon at her home after a lingering illness. She was 71 years of age.
Mrs. Shue was born in Westminster, Carrol county, Maryland, on Nov 6, 1869. At the age of two years, she moved with her family to Henry county, Indiand, where they resided during the next 12 years. In Sept. 1882, they moved to Mason county, Michigan, where Mrs. Shue has since resided. During the last 40 years, she had been a resident of Ludington.
Married on July 4, 1885, to Amos Shue, she was preceded in death by her husband 15 years ago. Four children, one of whom died in infancy, were born to them.
Mrs. Shue became a Christian in early life and was united with the Free Methodist church, of which she was a faithful and honored member for many years. She lived an unselfish life and devoted herself to administering to the wants of others, assisting and caring for them in illness. She was an exemplary wife and mother.
Surviving to mourn her loss are her three sons, Joseph, Chester and Charles Shue, all of Ludington, the second of whom made his home with Mrs. Shue. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Mrs. Doris Griffis of Muskegon and LaDonna, Marilyn and Margaret Shue, all of Ludington; four brothers, Rev. J.E. Sanders of Belding, D.W. Sanders of Custer, Rev. C.A. Sanders of Traverse City and Alvin Sanders of Ludington; two sisters, Mrs. Lydia Weller of Scottville and Mrs. Mary Deake of Ludington.
The body was returned to the home from Dorrell chapel on Sunday evening and will rest until the time of the services, at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon in Free Methodist church. The district elder, Rev. L.D. Bodine of Manton will officiate.
Interment will be made in Riverside Cemetery, Custer.
